Overall eye and ear devices are the most implanted medical devices in the U.S. with second place going to ear tubes with 715,000 procedures performed yearly. Cataract Surgery with advanced lens implants to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism and presbyopia-the age related focusing problem account for expenditure estimated at between $8 billion and $10 billion per year.
