What is a Toric Lens Implant (IOL)?
For patients who have astigmatism, a toric lens implant can correct astigmatism after cataract surgery. The toric lens implant is used to correct astigmatism that existed before cataract surgery. It is used to help patients with a considerable amount of astigmatism fully correct their distance vision after cataract surgery without being dependent on eyeglasses. Toric lens implants however do not correct near vision-only astigmatism and distance vision.
